New Barn takes shape....

So here is the new barn (Cover-All Building) in Podunk. Site of our new beef operation.
It is so nice and airy and the white canopy let's in a lot of light. It should prove to be a very healthy environment for the cows. I am very excited about this venture. Since my husband left the dairy business 3 years ago (after 30 years) I know he has missed working with the cattle so this should fit in nicely with our new life style. My Pop's, brothers and uncles have all jumped in to help us get this going. How blessed we are to have such wonderful family on my side. We have many wonderful neighbors whom have also lent us equipment and their knowledge in this venture that also deserve a big thank you and hopefully a steak here in the near future.........
Here is the freshly dried concrete floor that will be host to many cow pies in the up coming month. The head stanchions are ordered and the fence should be going in in the next few days. Water and electric are hopfully on their way.

  • Look at all that wonderful undercover hay storage.... Just what every girl dreams of; well, I guess if your a farmer girl you do.

Getting back in the groove.

This is one of the reasons it has been a long time since my last post. This little bundle of fur has joined our zoo and makes dog number four. His name is Payton and he is a cross between a Great Pyrenees and a Bernese Mountain Dog. He is only 4 months and is quite a big boy already. Here he is with Samantha.
I have also invested in a digital camera. It was just to hard to scan in everything from my 35mm camera and then it sometimes takes me a while to finish up a roll.
We also took a trip out West and put our family to the test by traveling for two weeks in a (SMALL) car, across parts of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, California and Nevada. We got to see some of the most beautiful parts of our country. My husband got a crash course on living with two teenagers in a very small space and claims to appreciate my skills of negotiation a lot more than before. We survived a white water rafting trip in Idaho on the Salmon river. I say survived because after the raft flipped we all magically popped up out of the water and hung on for dear life!! Then if that's not enough I had to survive the photo's of me in the wet suit. Good Grief, enough already! All kidding a side it was good to come back home. You never really appreciate your own surroundings till you leave them for a little while. When we got back my garden had gone jungle on me (still is a little wild), my chicks had grown to chickens and there is still much to do at the new farm site before we can get the cows moved down there and out to pasture. Hopefully the concrete gets poured tomorrow and the fence will start to take shape in the next few days.

Here is the latest project finished. It has been hanging around on my work table for about a month and with all the rain the last few days I could have cleaned house after work or worked on this so...I machine appliqued the flowers and hand appliqued the vine then machine quilted the top. I liked mixing the teal, salmon's, purples and some burgandy. Never would have thought all those colors could go together but anything is possible with the right fabric combo's.
Till next time...
