Old Fashion Barter.....

Last night my neighbor (with the cutest two little boys) shows up at the door with an egg carton and a jar of freezer strawberry jam.....

Will you take a barter for more eggs? She asks..... since you wont let me pay you!....

My brown eggs are a hit, my parents and brothers families all eat my hen's brown eggs, certain friends and neighbors ask for my hen's brown eggs and I share with one stipulation, they accept them for nothing.....

I like my chickens running around, even if the rooster starts his serenade at 4:30 in the morning... When I hear it, I know I lived through another night, whew......

So I consider the eggs a bonus and by product and I am happy to share.... I mean if they need the poo, I'd share that for free, too..... in this day and age I would probably make more money on the poo.... go figure.....

It's hard for people to accept something for nothing with no strings, I think it is something that needs to be fostered and spread, especially in these times, people need to think about returning to the old fashion values and principals of our country folk grandparents (at least mine). If you have the ability to help your family and neighbours and those down on their luck, you do so..... that is it period..... So gram's and gramp's, I watched, I learned, never was there a finer example for a kid, than you two..... still miss you.....

So if you find yourself headed down my lane.... stop in the Willows and I'll be happy to share....

Giving them away it really cool, but accepting a barter is nice too and lets the reciever feel good too..:-)

I agree we should go back to the way things used to be.

I come from a long line of farmers...both sets of grandparents and my parents are farmers and we are too.

I really enjoyed reading through you blog. I hope you will stop in sometime. Oh, I got here by way of the Milkman's Wife. Happy 4th of July! :)
