Sweet smell of summer

Is coming from these old fashion rose bushes that we have at the back of our property.

Tiny little white flowers with just a faint smell of roses.  If you not looking for it as you walk by you almost feel like you imagined it.

Joel has agreed they should stay and he will trim them up in the fall.  We have three very large bushes of them.

Joel has started to clean up the edges of the woods in back and is planning his trail system through the woods.  This is his favorite work on his off time, clearing brush and having bonfires.

  1. In the first photo of this post, do I see some unusual growth in the center and the bottom right of the rose bush? I think I see a peek of weirdness at the bottom right of photo #2 also. I can't be sure, but it looks as if this rose may be infected with Rose Rosette Disease, or may have symptoms of exposure to some sort of herbicide. If it's RRD, you're going to have to remove this rose to risk spreading the infection. RRD is a fatal virus that can be spread from any infected rose to another rose by a specific near-microscopic mite. If you're not familiar with RRD, or have questions, I will be happy to help.
